Thanks to winning a grant from Kultur.Gemeinschaften, we are pleased to announce the revitalization of our extensive online archive. The archive now features a feed-based structure, allowing for a smoother interactive experience and inspirational discovery of contemporary photography.
We worked with Berlin and Oslo-based NODE design studio to conceive and design the concept. Berlin-based Ungroup creative practice implemented the code to revolutionize the Der Greif experience and Swiss type design agency DINAMO supports us with beautiful fonts. In this blog post, we asked the team at NODE to reflect on the user interface behind dergreif.org.
The new website for Der Greif aims to make its large selection of curated image series intuitively accessible to visitors. Photographs are presented as large as possible, and a thumbnail display allows for a clear preview of the image series, even on mobile devices. Individual image sections are directly linked to each other, so that random discoveries can be made and the need for jumps on the page is avoided. The technical infrastructure is up-to-date, and the extensive page loads super fast. We are thrilled that the new site will make Der Greif's exciting and comprehensive photography and visual culture database more accessible to our web audience in the coming months.
The launch of dergreif.org coincides with our 15th year anniversary in 2023 and is the first of many celebratory projects that we are working on. Make sure to stay up-to-date with all our anniversary events by checking our new events page.
