Influences

Even though I can choose the subjects of these blogs myself, “What influenced you?” is a hard one to pinpoint with any certainty. When I do think about the influences that have had the most impact on me, the book ‘Evidence’ by Larry Sultan & Mike Mandel is almost the first thing that pops up. Knowing that images from multiple photographers in different environments can make for a coherent book influenced me. While photographing I didn’t stick to one place, time, or project, but I did try to keep it coherent, so I could use them together in the long run.It was ‘Evidence’ that got the photo book snowball rolling and made me search for similar impactful books. While not being completely successful, it made me look at many artists and books, and look more broadly at what can be an image to me.
