To continue their successful collaboration, Photoworks, Webber Gallery and Der Greif propose to share a space and theme to present an evening of photography, performance, and music during the professional week at Les Rencontres d’Arles 2019.
Dance is not only a uniting force across disciplines, it is a universal language of expression. We dance alone, in the privacy of our own homes, we dance together, in pairs, in groups, and with our community. Dancing in Arles explores the intersections between dance, music, movement, and community through contemporary photography, performance, and video.
We invite contemporary practitioners crossing various disciplines. Following the successful event during Photo London at Copeland Park in Peckham, London-based DJ collective Touching Bass will move us through the night, as well as one very special live act, all in relation and as a reaction to photographic images and video works.
Over the course of the evening and with our guests, we aim to explore the different iterations of community. Photoworks, Webber Gallery, and Der Greif want to create polyphony and cross-pollination between the participants, the audience, and the space.
