Sunburn

Artist Blog by Sander Coers

The summer sun casts a golden glow over the terracotta houses in La Mora, Spain. I’ve just come back from the beach and am sitting, still dripping from a dip in the pool, at my laptop to write this. The warmth of the day wraps around me, and in a moment I’ll be on my way for a walk, an Aperol Spritz, and then dinner later this evening.

I seem to thrive in this environment. Here, in this area, which I have visited every year for the past five years, I am reminded of my holiday memories that have always fascinated me. These memories, with their deeply saturated colors and nostalgic scenes, exist vividly in my mind. The scent of pine trees in the sun, the vibrant hues of the landscape, the azure sea, and the warmth of the people become the palette for my reflections. I am drawn to the way light plays on the stones, how shadows dance on the cars, and how every corner of this place seems to hold a story. They remind me of the importance of capturing not just the visual beauty but the essence of these experiences.
