    The Beginning

    In 2022 I heard a radio report about coastal erosion in Europe and its consequences and then contacted the editor Brigitte Kramer to ask her if there was a possibility of using her text for an illustration. We agreed that I could use her research and was able to finance and go on the first trip to Barcelona and Mallorca in winter 2022 by agreeing to publish it for Greenpeace Magazine Switzerland. After a month abroad, and many conversations with coastal researchers and those affected, I realized that it is not just a report about the erosion on the coast of Europe, but about much broader and global topics: mass tourism and mismanagement, exploitation and ecological cycles, flooding and Species extinction.

    Anne Gabriel-Jürgens

    Anne Gabriel-Jürgens studied photography in Hamburg, received her diploma at the HAW with Prof. Ute Mahler and completed her master's degree with Prof. Arno Fischer in Berlin. She constantly works on freelance long-term projects and photographs documentation and portraits for magazines and companies. Central themes in her work are definitions of gender and family roles as well as environmental issues related to sustainability, identity and society. She questions common social models and observes how the environment develops and changes under the given circumstances.
