    I want to scream so much but my vocal cords are chronically inflamed

    Artist Feature of Maša Stanić

    In the course of RAY Triennial of Photography in Frankfurt (2024) I presented my exhibition, I want to scream so much but my vocal cords are chronically inflamed on the main theme of ECHOES.

    My interpretation of an echo was mainly communication and my series looks at the different "echoes" we experience in society and relationships.

    Through my images, I explore e.g. the urgent message of climate change and our need to change our habits. I also capture the echoes of love between people, showing moments of connection, even in hard times (Image: the perks of having a boyfriend). One piece addresses the philosophical notion of lost communication, revealing how messages can fade (Image: stillepost).

    Together, these photos invite viewers to contemplate the deeper meanings of echoes in our lives and their impact on our connections with one another and the environment.

    Maša Stanić

    Maša Stanić (1994) is a Serbian photographer and artist. Her work is described as a hybrid of portrait, editorial and reportage photography. At the center of her intimate and yet raw visual language is the beauty in the ugly, which Stanić develops according to the principle of spontaneous impulsiveness: Recognizing what is there - and then working with it. In January 2023 Stanić graduated at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. Since 2018, her work has been shown in several exhibitions, including Museumsquartier and 21er Haus. Maša Stanić lives and works between Berlin and Vienna.
