    Guest Room aims to spark collaboration. Damarice Amao, associate curator for photography at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, has decided to team up with photography historian and curator Matthias Pfaller. Together, they have developed the following framework for your submissions: “Empathy”.

    "We are looking for work that explores current politics and poetics of relation, among and across different communities, species, and the environment."

    Damarice Amao

    Damarice Amao (1984) is an associate curator for photography at the Centre Pompidou in Paris. She has co-curated the exhibitions "Eli Lotar" (Jeu de Paume, 2017), "Photography as a Weapon of Class" (Centre Pompidou, 2018), and "Dora Maar" (Centre Pompidou, Tate, Getty, 2019). She recently curated and edited "Charlotte Perriand. Politics of Photomontage" (Rencontres d'Arles, 2021) and "Décadrage colonial. Anticolonialism, Surrealism, Modern Photography" (Centre Pompidou, 2022). She is the author of "Eli Lotar et le mouvement des images" (2017) and has contributed to numerous publications.

    Matthias Pfaller

    Matthias Pfaller (1991) is a photography historian and curator. After studies in Germany, Scotland and Norway, he has worked in Switzerland, the USA, Chile, and France. He is interested in Latin America, queer perspectives, and the non-Western conceptions of photography. In the summer of 2023, he co-curated the exhibition “Lynne Cohen / Marina Gadonneix” at the Centre Pompidou. Currently, he is collaborating on a large retrospective of art photography from the 1970s to the 1990s.
