    Nadine Henrich & William Camargo

    Guest Room aims to spark collaboration. Nadine Isabelle Henrich, Curator of the House of Photography at the Deichtorhallen in Hamburg, has decided to team up with photo-based artist and founder of Latinx Diaspora Archives, William Camargo. Together, they have developed the following framework for your submissions: “Poetics of Counter-Archives”.

    "We introduce 'Poetics of Counter-Archives' as our conceptual framework, inviting you to explore images, visual constellations, networks, communities, spaces, dialogues, archives, and photographic kinship for transcending conventional representation. Which images exist in the shadows of algorithmic visibility? What images are not part of the visual history of your home? How can we construct counterarchives as a form of resistance against hegemonic structures within the realm of photographic history? What images are you longing to encounter, and what images do you imagine with your eyes closed? What are the poetics of your counter-archive?"

    Nadine Henrich

    Nadine Isabelle Henrich is an art historian and curator, focusing on photo-based practices, media art, and the semantics of digital archives. She is the Curator of the House of Photography, at Deichtorhallen in Hamburg, Germany. Prior she was a Curatorial Fellow at the Getty Research Institute in L.A. (2022/2023) and was part of a.o. the curatorial teams of Fotomuseum Winterthur and Museum Folkwang (2021-2023), as part of the international program Museum Curators of Photography. Recent shows include a.o. "Poetics of Search" at Fotomuseum Winterthur (2022/2023).

    William Camargo

    William Camargo is a photo-based artist and educator born and raised in Anaheim, California. He is a lecturer in photography at the University of California San Diego, Cal State Fullerton, and Pasadena City College. William is the founder/curator of Latinx Diaspora Archives, an archive Instagram page that elevates communities of color through family photos. His work focuses on gentrification, police violence, and Chicanx/Latinx histories. William has residencies at a.o. the Latinx Project at NYU, Light Work, NY, TILT in Philadelphia, and the Center for Photography at Woodstock, NY.
