I adore spending time at the studio, with each person you shoot it’s a different vibe and if you like the people you’re shooting it seems like hanging out but it’s also work, I find that thought very appealing.
I have my own studio, which I am keeping even tho I don’t constantly spend time in Vienna, I just want to have the feeling that my photography has a home.
The aspect of studio photography varying in vibes is what I enjoy the most.
It can be very intimate, it can be awkward, frustrating, super fun, it can be like a small party, etc.
For example, the last shoot was with Oonagh and Robert, a pregnant couple. It was so sweet to spend some time with their love for each other and feel how cute a relationship can be and a soon-to-be family. It was a heartwarming experience.
On the other hand, we were shooting merch for Boiler Room during COVID (the naked people sticking together with tape, not very COVID friendly haha). A friend randomly fainted while being taped up to the other people, before we took the picture. In the end, I had to jump in and my assistant took the photo. Also, one of them was COVID positive and found out a few days later. So in retrospect, it was weirdly funny. (The friend is okay btw).
For a vintage store, we made an advent calendar, where each day until the 24th, they sell special pieces. And then we shot for each day one person and they were only allowed to wear what was going to be sold that day. I mean obviously, that was a party of a shooting hahaha.
This blog post is a little selection of some of my studio shootings over the past four years.
