While working on my project “Breathing in 100000 km, breathing out,” I travelled across Poland and Iceland, returning to places that had left strong emotional traces within me. I focused on expressing the character of each location. The project became a life journey, a search for what feels most essential to me.
It is better to feel and to continue looking, even when we do not fully understand what the world or other people are trying to express. There is value in remaining attentive and open, especially when clarity is missing. It’s important to not give up even in the deepest darkness, as it can sometimes reveal the path toward light. Hope and love, I believe, exist within every human being, even when they feel unreachable.
The work unfolds as a story of loneliness, love, and madness, touching on the fragile terrain of mental disorders. The series has neither a clear beginning nor an end; instead, it operates through a certain randomness of glances, allowing new threads of meaning to emerge with each encounter.
The series reflects the changeability of emotions and their power to shape perception and thought. In extreme emotional states, it can be difficult to remain fully receptive to the outside world, yet these extremes often compel creators to search for answers more urgently. Ultimately, this collection is an attempt to find balance between opposing emotional states. The series draws a an emotional sine wave in which colour and light intermittently break through an overwhelming darkness.
